Mission Statement

The World Traditional Karate-Do Union is dedicated to cultivating individual and collective excellence through the teaching and practice of Karate-Do.  Through Karate-Do practice, we develop the hearts, minds, and bodies of both teacher and student, with the conviction of approaching life with courage, confidence, and the will to succeed.  The World Traditional Karate-Do Union affiliated Ryuhas and Kaihas will:

• Provide instruction compatible with the true spirit of traditional Karate-Do, using a uniform code of ethical behavior emphasizing self-enlightenment, and the betterment of the community.
• Provide instruction, research, and development commensurate with worldwide standards of excellence.
• Provide training and certification of its affiliate instructors to insure that the instruction is current, structured, consistent, and of the highest quality, respecting individual cultural and religious diversity, in a spirit of respect, compassion, and dignity, upholding the physical safety of all practitioners.
• Provide extensive outreach with the community and the private sector to enhance the understanding and benefits of traditional Karate-Do.

Purpose

The World Traditional Karate-do Union is a traditionally-based consortium of professionals united under the traditions and teachings of our respective systems, and collective vision. The World Traditional Karate do Union exists to promote strict protocols of appearance, etiquette, education, and sound moral standards. The World Traditional Karate-do Union is unmatched in its pro-active approach and global reach, and unlike other similar consortiums, it is not merely a tournament circuit, but a consortium dedicated to research and development, with affiliated members all over the globe.  WTKU membership application requires a rigorous background check, and requires all members to be in good standing with an established, dignified, and tenured Karate-do organization within the WTKU structure. Those who do not qualify as a branch head are welcomed to join one of our member/affiliate organizations.
